Meet the people behind the scenes who work tirelessly to ensure that MX Fencing runs like a well oiled machine. Every single Committee member is dedicated to providing a club for everyone to enjoy. We strive to do our best by all of our fencers and endeavour to make it a club that feels like home.

Catherine Greene
Chair and Co-Secretary
I am Alex Greene's mum and didn't know anything about fencing until he took to it at school. As Chair of the committee I coordinate our activities and provide an oversight role for the club. I am also currently sharing the Secretary role with Hayley. Please contact me if you have any questions about the set up or running of the club.
Paula Stevens
Social Secretary and Kit Manager
My job is to promote club unity. I organise club social events and help out in general. I also organise, store and distribute all club kit to those needing to borrow it. If you need any information about how the club, or any stage of competition works, I can either help you myself, or put you in touch with the right person.
Rob Shimmin
Safeguarding Officer
My role is to create procedures that ensure the safeguarding of all our fencers and their coaches and to make it easy to report any concerns. I’m joined in that effort by Welfare Champion Hayley McAuley.

Hayley McAuley
Co-Secretary, Webmaster, social media manager, welfare champion and Mental Health Education and Wellbeing Advisor.
I am a parent to an MX Fencer and I am responsible for creating and maintaining the website and for all social media content. I am also currently sharing the Secretary role with Catherine. I hold the following training & qualifications to support the effective running of the club:
I am a qualified Psychotherapist and provide mental health education and advice to the club. I also have Safeguarding training and full paediatric first aid training.
Richard Stevens
Treasurer
I am the Club Treasurer. I manage the club's finances, including paying our bills and checking that members' fees have been paid correctly.
I am also instrumental in making club decisions alongside the other members of the Committee to ensure that MX runs as effectively as possible for our members.
Daniel Merchant
Incoming Safeguarding Officer
I am still new to fencing but fell in love with the sport after the first clash of swords.
I am currently in the process of taking over the Welfare Office role, which will make me the primary contact for any concerns over the welfare and safety of our fencers.
We are also supported in our efforts by Andrew Collings, our wonderful Armourer who ensures that all of our club kit is maintained to a safe standard.
